The game's soundtrack features an original score composed by a team of producers who collaborated over several years. Much of the development work constituted the open world's creation, and several team members conducted field research around California to capture footage for the design team. The developers drew influence from many of their previous projects (such as Red Dead Redemption and Max Payne 3 ) and designed the game around three lead protagonists to innovate on the core structure of its predecessors. Shared between many of Rockstar's studios worldwide, the game's development began around the time of Grand Theft Auto IV 's release. In Grand Theft Auto Online, the game's online multiplayer mode, up to 30 players engage in a variety of different cooperative and competitive game modes. A "wanted" system governs the aggression of law enforcement response to players who commit crimes. The story is centred on the heist sequences, and many missions involve shooting and driving gameplay. Players control the protagonists throughout single-player and switch among them, both during and outside missions. The game world is navigated on foot and by vehicle, from either a third-person or first-person perspective. Players freely roam San Andreas's open world countryside and fictional city of Los Santos, based on Los Angeles. Set within the fictional state of San Andreas, based on Southern California, the single-player story follows three protagonists-retired bank robber Michael De Santa, street gangster Franklin Clinton, and drug dealer and gunrunner Trevor Philips-and their attempts to commit heists while under pressure from a corrupt government agency and powerful criminals. It is the seventh main entry in the Grand Theft Auto series, following 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV, and the fifteenth instalment overall. Michael's voice actor, Ned Luke, has been hinting on social media that he would love to reprise the role, perhaps giving fans the first indication that GTA 5's story is not finished after all.Grand Theft Auto V is a 2013 action-adventure game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. This could then see iconic GTA 5 characters visit the locations of Grand Theft Auto 6, or even meet the rumored protagonists of the upcoming game. The narrative of this DLC could stay consistent with the story-line of GTA Online, showcasing GTA 5's characters ten years on from the events of the main story. With news of GTA 6 already feeding into bittersweet nostalgia surrounding Grand Theft Auto 5, a story DLC for the 2013 release could be an absolute showstopper for the IP. The absence of DLC for Grand Theft Auto 5's story has confused fans long before GTA 6 was even announced, with the recent explosion in popularity of GTA Online taking up a lot of Rockstar's current attention. This excellent track record was not extended to Grand Theft Auto 5, with the game never receiving a story expansion in over a decade, despite its near-unparalleled success. These two games alone produced the following story expansions that were received extremely well by fans: Single-player DLC has been a huge element of past major Rockstar titles like Grand Theft Auto 4 and Red Dead Redemption. Rockstar Is No Stranger to Successful Story DLC It only seems right that this should be achieved by Rockstar via a single-player story expansion for Grand Theft Auto 5 which directly ties into the eventual narrative of its successor. This impending storm of discussion around GTA 6 risks overshadowing the legacy of Grand Theft Auto 5, and the near future should be just as much about reflecting on GTA 5 as it is about learning what experience GTA 6 will provide. This is set to change with Rockstar's recent confirmation that Grand Theft Auto 6's reveal trailer is coming in early December, and a huge amount of attention is currently on the franchise as a result. News surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 has been scarce since it was quietly announced in February 2022, despite the game arguably being the most anticipated release of all time.
